I've been doing identity work for a number of years. My life has changed drastically - my identity was shifting. And while everything else unraveled, my nervous system fought it. The body fights change - even good change - to try to make you safe. Because the familiar feels safer than the unknown, even when the familiar hurts. Using movement to drop from my thinking mind to my feeling body helped me feel safe through the process. I made a commitment to myself: to live a full life without the patterns of my past ruling the way my life unfolded.
